THE GLASS MENAGERIE
by TENNESSEE WILLIAMS
The Glass Menagerie is a semi-autobiographical ‘memory play’ set in St Louis in the 1930s.
Narrator Tom Wingfield, who aspires to be a poet, recalls his emotionally fragile sister, Laura and their domineering mother Amanda.
The arrival of a dinner guest, referred to as ‘The Gentleman Caller’, does not go according to anyone’s plans .
The emotional tension is palpable.
